Sunday 1/5/19 at dialysis

Well this is my first official post on Royce’s COTA blog as I transition from the Facebook blog. If you are interested in reading about Royce’s journey before today please head over to his Facebook page by searching “Royce’s journey from China to a new kidney and beyond.”

Today is our third week of our new schedule, where Royce is getting dialysis for four days each week. Through trial and error (for the lack of a better term) we have learned that when Royce has dialysis two days in a row, the second day needs to focus mainly on just cleaning his blood versus pulling extra fluid from his blood. Today is the first time where he hasn’t slept the entire treatment on the second day in a row.

We had a wonderful New Year this past week.  Royce loves playing with his cousins Nora and Cooper (visiting from New York) and Alaina. One New Year’s Eve Royce had dialysis.  Cousins Nora and Alaina joined us at dialysis but Royce slept most of the time.  In the evening we went to a hockey game.  Royce loved watching the clock count down till the end of the periods. And Royce really loved being able to go out on the ice to pick up the hockey pucks! We stayed up till midnight to watch the ball drop at Grandma Rosie’s house.  On New Year’s Day Uncle Doug took the kids out sledding, we ate lunch at our favorite Chinese restaurant and then went bowling. The spectator section at bowling was larger than the group bowling but everyone had a good time.

Well I will have to post more later because our time at dialysis is coming to an end for today.
