Happy Heart Month ![]()
This is our very first year as a family even realizing that February is Heart Month — and it’s already going to be such a special one for us. Not only is it a month dedicated to heart warriors like Sabrina, but it’s also her birthday month ![]()
This picture pretty much sums up life lately. We are finally over RSV as a household (praise
) and slowly settling into what might be our new normal. We still have twice-weekly home nurse visits and lots of appointments, but Sabrina has had follow-ups since being sick and RSV did NOT affect her heart function at all — a huge win ![]()
Her heart looks exactly the same as it did when she left the hospital, and we’re so encouraged by that ![]()
We’ve gotten used to the medication schedule
and she’s even been able to reduce one of her meds (not the daily amount, just how many times a day), which we’re trialing now
She had an echocardiogram last Friday and her heart function is around 28%, which is where it’s been for months — that’s Sabrina’s normal
For context, a healthy heart is usually between 55–70%, so we’re still low, but she is doing really well right now ![]()
Most of all, she’s absolutely loving being home
And her big brother is THRILLED to have his sister back — always first in line for hugs, kisses, and playtime ![]()
Right now we’re in a gray season on the 1B transplant waiting list
The timeline is hard and uncertain, so our hope is simply to keep Sabrina stable for a long time and trust that the perfect heart will come at the perfect time ![]()
So we’re choosing to focus on the good — and right now, this is it – Sitting in our messy living room with our two kids, doing nothing but playing on a blanket together ![]()

It’s everything.
