On Saturday, 1/10/26 Sabrina was discharged to home after 168 days inpatient at Children’s Hospital. I got to put her in her car seat and drive away. It still feels surreal.
Yesterday was our first full day at home, and we did exactly what we needed to do — nothing. We all stayed in the same house, giggled together, learned (and re-learned) the medication routine, and started finding our rhythm. We do have biweekly home nursing support, but day-to-day care is in our hands now, and we’re already getting the hang of it. Sabrina is doing remarkably well.
We know the hospital isn’t really in our rearview and this isn’t the end of our journey — it’s a pause. Sabrina still needs a new heart. But for now, being together is enough.
