I have been inconsistent in posting updates simply because every hour has been different. The days are both long and fast and a blureI don’t want to come across alarming in anyway b/c she is making progress. There is not way to mentally or physically to have prepared for this process. We know we have to recognize each babystep has a mini milestone and combined the will lead to great outcomes.
The biggest comfort in all of this is knowing she has been covered in constant specific prayer. The last 2 1/2 days have been hard dealing with fever spikes, low oxygen levels, pain control, hallucinations from the meds an a few things in between.
Yesterday she worked really hard through different PT goals even when her body was in full tremors from pain. When we first asked what type of PT they would be doing from Day 2 and they said just getting out of bed and to a chair. Scarlett said “wow, that is it, this must really really hurt”. She told me yesterday she felt like she set her self expecations too high. We explained that it was good to set a high expectation and that she can’t feel like she has failed at it. It is hard for her to see her progress like we can.
Today the pain team sent in the intergrative medicine team. The practioner was amazing. She worked on breathing techniques, reflexology and massage to help with her lypmphatic system and pain. She is holding on to about 12 lbs of fluid right now.
We are remindered this is a marathon not a sprint. We have to remind her she is stronger than she realizes. We have to remind her that she is covered in prayer and protection.
I am so incredibly thankful to have a husband who is 1000% present with me on this journey.
She is still in the trenches fighting but we know everyone is fighting with her.
Much Love,
Alissa & Kelly
Continued prayers for Scarlett. Praying each and every day is a better day. Hope she is feeling better.
She is so brave and strong! And every day is one day closer to healing and coming home. She is lighting a path and inspiring so many with this journey. Tell her there is a team of prayer warriors in Austin holding her and lifting her up every day!
