Half Day!

The 8 hour drive home after surgery was a little much and she came home feeling pretty rough. She slept 11 hours and woke not feeling great at all. She was nauseated, fatigued and just overall kind of puny. After a few hours of Marvel movies she started to perk up and by last night was very much like her old self.

We spoke with Mr. Carpenter and decided it was best to do a half day today as she starts to build her endurance again. She is excited but also a little stressed about playing catch up from what she has missed and explaining to friends and classmates.

This disease is weird, it’s extremely rare in kids 1 in 3 million to be exact and can be difficult not to over explain. She has gotten the craziest questions from classmates and strangers. “Are all your organs rotting”? “Will you be able to have babies”? “Are you going to die”? “I heard you have cancer”?
The answer is only 1 organ is “rotting” ????????‍??, yes she can have children later in life, of course she is going to die we alll do but no plans for anytime soon and no she doesn’t have cancer as a matter of fact the TPAIT surgery eliminates her risk for pancreatic cancer.

Please pray for continued healing of the liver, strength and endurance to resume her daily routine and mental peace that she is covered in prayer and God is continuing with this plan that he has laid out for her.

Much Love,
Alissa
