IV time yet again

I had been having back lung pain for 2 weeks as of April 26th so I called my nurse to ask for a chest xray to make sure everything was ok in that department.  Turns out that my xray was decent, no major pneumonias or anything like that.  They also had me send in my lung function from my home spirometer.  It was down to 32% from 36% the last time I was in clinic.  With all that said we decided to do IV antibiotics and a burst of prednisone.  I have been on IVs for 11 days at this point.  My lung pain is getting better.  It isn’t as sharp as it was and is requiring less ibuprofen so I will take that as a win so far.  I have 4.5 days of IVs left.  I’m on IV cefapime which is an IV push (in a syringe) that is pushed in over 10 min.  It’s better than zosyn that is every 6 hours and runs over 30 min and way better than avicaz which is every 8 hours and takes 2 hours to infuse.  No thank you!!!  I did lung functions on my home spirometer on Wednesday and sent them in and they were up to 35%.  I’ll take it.  That’s about all that is going on right now.  I have a followup/check up on June 10th.  Hoping all is good.

Until next time…
