Alyssa update- 4/6/2021: ONE MONTH
It has been one month since Alyssa had her life saving Liver Transplant Surgery.
One month since we have seen the power of prayer before our very eyes.
One month since we met our miracle working transplant team, amazing nurses and outstanding support personnel in both WV and PA.
One month since we received the greatest gift of a liver from a donor who we pray for daily.
One month since our amazing tribe ( near and far) have wrapped my family in love and prayer and amazing food!
One month since God brought two special families into our lives. Napoli and Watts family- we love you!
The beginning of last week was rough!!! Constant head and neck pain along with nausea and no sleep makes for long days and longer nights. Alyssa had a follow up appointment with her transplant surgeon last week. She got her staples removed and they think she is doing amazing.( even though she doesn’t always think so. Those that know Alyssa , know that this is so her)LOL.
We got the best news ever. The team cleared her to continue her recovery at HOME!!!! She still has to have labs drawn twice a week and return to Pittsburgh in 3 weeks for her next appointment , but we get to go home! We will continue to monitor and adjust medication as needed and our team is just a phone call away. I honestly didn’t know how long we would be in PA but Alyssa continues to defy the norm. She of course was very nervous and anxious to go home and be so far away from her team. We reassured her that she was fine to go home and they wouldn’t send her unless they were confident she would do fine at home.
I can’t tell you how amazing it is to be home. Each day has its challenges as we adjust to our new normal but at least we are at home and with the boys!
Please continue to pray for Alyssa as she continues to heal and adjust to her new way of life. Thank you to everyone who has supported our #AlyssaStrong COTA t-shirt fundraiser. Deadline has been extended to April 13th. Please join our FB Group Team Alyssa to get updates and news on all the exciting things my team is working on. I will also be adding pictures from our journey thus far. The pictures of Alyssa when she was jaundice before the surgery are unbelievable! So thankful for all who have prayed and blessed our family.
