Our girl has been offered a heart.
It’s hard to put language around something this sacred. We are overwhelmed with relief and gratitude, and at the very same time, we are holding the donor family close in our thoughts. Somewhere, another family made an unthinkably generous decision on the hardest day of their lives. Their courage is the reason our daughter gets another chance.
She is scheduled for surgery on Monday, April 13, at 11am (though the schedule can shift). There remains a chance the heart will not be compatible at the time of surgery. We will share more when we can, but for now: thank you for lifting her up, for loving her, and for keeping the donor family in your hearts too.
