COTA for Team Jayce

Our Story

This is Jayceston Harris. Family and friends call him Baby Jayce. Baby Jayce’s health issues began in September of 2016 when he first coded at Wayne General on Labor Day. Jayce has coded four times over the course of his young life, but by God’s grace, Baby Jayce is still here and still FIGHTING. 

   Later Jayce was diagnosed with a stroke, seizure disorder, blood clots on the brain, has a feeding tube, and anemia due to chronic kidney disease, which leaves him to receive two shots a day and 12 medications also given by his mother.

  Since then Jayce has been back and forth to Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson, MS. His parents, Ambrosia and James Harris, have worked really hard to stay on top of his medical care and keep him safe and healthy. However, over the last 2 years Jayce’s condition has worsened and his mom is unable to work, leaving his dad being the main provider who is currently laid off due to the pandemic but is searching for work being that he is the primary source of income.

 On July 10, 2020, Baby Jayce was diagnosed with End Stage Kidney Disease. His parents were told that he would have to be on dialysis daily for 10 hours. Initially, on July 21st Jayce was put to sleep for the rerouting of dialysis port, but the surgery took a turn to be more serious in which he became placed on ventilator; so in all Jayce began dialysis on July 22, 2020. Jayce is awaiting a Kidney Transplant. His family has partnered with the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) for assistance with transplant-related expenses.
