One of the steps we are taking to prepare for Kaitlyn’s liver transplant is getting her on an insulin pump and dexcom. Kaitlyn currently takes a lot of insulin, all day long. Regulating her glucose is a daily battle. Just during her last admission, her glucose levels ranged from 30-300. She is so excited for her new insulin pump and Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM/Dexcom). This will cut down on the many bruises she is accumulating (low platelets from portal hypertension) and will help us control her blood sugars once she starts the steroids after transplant.
