Our Story

This is Lauryn Mulder. She’s a competitive dancer. She’s a cheerleader. But for right now, she’s known as the courageous 16 year old that desparately needs a kidney transplant. At 5 years old, she was diagnosed with Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (HSP), a rare autoimmune disorder that attacked her kidneys. Lauryn has been courageously fighting her kidney disease for nearly twelve years and continues to be a brave, beautiful warrior tackling 3x weekly dialysis treatments in the hopes of receiving a kidney transplant soon.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

  1. Lauryn,

I am a friend of your parents. As you know, you are lucky to have them. They, from the many wonderful things they tell me, are also lucky to have you.

Let me send all the positive thoughts I can muster in your direction.

Keep up your brave fight. Victory will come.

  3. Lauryn, I am Sarah’s mom and I wanted to let you know that we are thinking of you. Sarah’s dad donated one of his kidneys to his sister a few years ago and they are both doing well and I pray that you too find a donor. Stay strong and let us know if you need anything. Love to you.
