9/19 update: the stent is out!

Don Robinson State Park

2 weeks ago I had my stent removed! I was able to stop 2 nebulized medications. And then I had another bronch this week… They placed the stent back in and plan to keep it in for even longer hoping to “scar” the airway open. This just means I get to resume the 2 treatments I stopped.

During the bronch, I cultured a new fungus. I get to start another medication when my pharmacy gets the pre-authorization approved on Monday. Because every change in medication affects the other medications I’m taking for anti-rejection purposes, I have to have blood work done every 2 weeks.

The weather in St. Louis is in the low 70s today, so we got out of the house and went on a 1.5 hour hike at Don Robinson State Park (about 45 minute drive from St. Louis). It was challenging with some steep uphills and rocky pathways, but it was a much better experience than the hikes we went on last year. My lungs are doing awesome. My lung function continues to increase at each clinic visit despite the narrowing airways and the constant bronchs.
