Team Max Update

Hey everyone! It’s been a little while since I’ve had an update on Max, but we finally have some BIG news!

We just got a call from his transplant coordinator that Max has officially been listed as active on the transplant list!

The transplant team has been testing and looking for potential matches all along, but Max couldn’t officially become active for a kidney until his entire transplant workup was completed. Vaccines were the final step, and now he is finally ready to receive a kidney if the right one becomes available.

There was actually one match found previously, but unfortunately we missed the window because Max wasn’t quite ready to be transplanted yet, and the donor was only able to donate within a certain timeframe. It was definitely disappointing, but we are keeping our fingers crossed that another match comes quickly.

Now that he is active, we really don’t know when that call will come. It could be tomorrow, or it could be three months from now. But whenever that call comes, he has his go bag ready.

We are so incredibly grateful for everyone who continues to follow Max’s journey, share his story, support COTA for Team Max, and keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
