Our Story

Hello all! Moises Nava is a vibrant and resilient 16-year-old from Concord, California. He’s full of energy and joy. He is always on the move playing basketball and soccer, riding bikes, going on walks, or dancing to his favorite songs. Moises loves music, singing, watching sports and pro wrestling, as well as spending time with his close-knit family. His humor, creativity, and adventurous spirit shine through in everything he does, even in the face of serious health challenges.

From the day he was born, Moises has faced a difficult medical journey. He lives with multiple disabilities and is battling end-stage kidney failure. Despite being in and out of the hospital his entire life, Moises has never let his condition define him. He remains one of the strongest people we know. He continues to live life with joy and determination, rarely showing signs of the immense toll his health has taken.

Moises is currently on the transplant list awaiting a kidney. While the need is urgent, he continues to embrace every day, doing what he loves most and bringing light to everyone around him.

Our entire family – his father, mother, older brother, and younger sister – have come together to care for Moises. While it’s a lot to process emotionally and financially, we stay hopeful because of the strength and positivity that Moises continues to show.

Partnering with COTA is about more than transplant-related expenses, it’s about giving Moises the future he deserves.

We are so grateful for your support of COTA for Team Moises. Whether through a donation to COTA for Team Moises or simply sharing his story, you’re helping give Moises the chance to keep living life to the fullest – exactly how he always has – thank you! Thank you and God bless.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
