Our prayers were answered, and our sweet boy received the call! 🙏🏼

Last Monday night we learned that Nolan was the primary candidate for an offer his team really liked, and they were traveling to review everything in person the next day. It had been a rainy week and when the doctor came by Tuesday to tell us they officially accepted the offer, I looked out the window and saw the sun for the first time in a long time☀️

Nolan received his new liver Wednesday morning, and his new kidney the next day. Handing Nolan over to the team and watching them wheel him to the OR was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done and time has never moved as slow as it did while we waited for updates. But by the grace of God both surgeries went well and his new organs are working! We have a long road to recovery and Nolan’s team told us to expect bumps in the road, but we’re off to a good start. We’re taking it day by day from here, so please keep those prayers coming 🙏🏼

This is still surreal and I haven’t fully processed that this actually happened. It’s also really complicated to know that this day we’ve prayed so hard for was a day that caused unthinkable grief for another family. I will be forever grateful for their selfless decision, I promise to find a way to honor his donor, and I really hope we raise Nolan to become someone his donor family would be proud of. 💚
