Climbing the mountain

Our Jude has been through so much in his short little life.  We never expected to hear the words, he will need a liver transplant this past December.  We brought home a different little boy after that hospital stay.  There is no timeline of how long a liver will last when in stage 3/4 cirrhosis.  However, our Jude is certainly on the decline.  His energy is low, appetite poor, and he sleeps a lot but not well perhaps from the itching liver disease leaves you with due to its inability to filter toxins correctly in the body.  He has had 3 bouts in the hospital in the last 2 months, trying to keep his ammonia levels down, fluid and infections away, oh and with pancreatitis.  This journey seems to get worse and worse as we climb this mountain to transplant.  We have him on the waiting list for Jackson memorial but are bringing him to Children’s hospital of Philadelphia for evaluation and to get him dual-listed to up his chances for a possible sooner transplant.  Jude literally reminds us to take life one day at a time.  To appreciate each good moment as it comes and hold on tight to each other and our faith through those bad moments.  Thank you for all of your love and support through this difficult time.

Love,

Nicole W.
