Contradictions

“God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” C.S. Lewis

My mother-in-law, Rita, reminded me of this quote. I’d seen it once before a while back when it didn’t mean near to me what it means now. It’s the oddest thing. Sometimes walking Wesley through Biliary Atresia is hell. I know what it feels like to cry until you’re dehydrated. But I also feel the presence of God — His nearness to me and my family like never before. He is carrying us through this day by day and moment by moment.

My fellow BA mom Ashley Brown summed up this particular journey perfectly saying when you get through transplant you’re “broken but completely invincible.” Yup. I already get that. And, really, that’s just good theology. In my flesh, I’m broken. In Jesus Christ, I am invincible.

Watching Wes enter liver failure is the hardest thing I’ll do. But God is shouting His peace and truth to our family during this time. His mercies are new each morning and He gives us more than enough to get through this with Wes one baby step at a time.

Thank you for your prayers. You can also make a tax-deductible donation here on the site to the Children’s Organ Transplant Association in honor of Wesley. We are humbled by the outpouring of love and support our family has already received. We love you guys.
