Counting down the hours

First of all, thank you so very much for all the support. Daily it pours in and we are so very grateful. We feel the power of Abbey’s Army and we know she will do great. We arrived Sunday evening after 2 days of driving from McKinney to Cincinnati. Abbey did great! But of course she did. RMHC is still on a waitlist, so for now we are hotel surfing. We stayed at Graduate Cincinatti, the hotel on UC campus and right next to the hospital. Look it up! Insane deco and just a fun doormroom vibe. We happened to run into Rev?v on the bottom floor and they gave us great information. They support families of children with medical needs with various support systems and gift cards. Abbey got to meet Elsa, Merida, and an Unicorn princess that were at the event. They sang happy birthday to her, gave her a gift, and they got to kick around a ball in the courtyard. AMAZING!
this morning we had her first appointment at 8am and now it’s happening. Abbey was admitted for prep at 10am and they got her IV’d up and free 40 labs, 40! Then had to come back for more ????. We did get a chance to walk around the hospital tonight before taking her pre surgery bath and getting ready to sleep. We had an animal hunt and found all the statues in the hospital. Sweet girl was so excited to walk around and explore. Last time she will be on her feet running for at least 2-3 weeks.
Tomorrow morning it happens. 6:30am walk to surgery prep, 7:30am anesthesia, 9am projected first cut, noon projected pancreas removal, and so on. 12 hour surgery, then transfer to PICU, and hook up/wake up, puts us at around 8:30pm before we get to see our baby girl again. But with all of the machines, tubes poking out, and lifetime scars on her abdomen. All for better pastures on the other side though. She may not remember any of this, but Mandy and I will have it scarred in our brains forever.  Sleep well my warrior princess, my wonder woman, my hero. Daddy loves you more than you’ll ever know..
