Today started with a fever and increased pain as the anesthesia wore off. The care team plans to try to get Zach out of bed today.

Zach has been more alert, though he is more aware of his pain and discomfort. He has been attentive to what his his nurse is doing asking questions and engaging in his care. Physical therapy was very impressed with his level of alertness at this stage and with the strength he showed while assisting in getting out of bed.

Overall, he is ahead of schedule in his recovery at this stage following surgery.
