It’s been a few days since our last update, and we want to share how Zach is doing.

Last week, he was making really encouraging progress. Unfortunately, this week has been especially difficult. Zach contracted a serious and painful bacterial infection in his intestines called C. diff, he’s been on medication for the past four days, but the road since then has felt like a roller coaster. Not only is he still recovering from surgery, but he’s also battling the painful symptoms that come with this infection — vomiting, diarrhea, and dry heaving — all of which have caused additional strain on his already healing intestinal tract.

Today, he presented with phlebitis in his arm from his IVs which had to be removed. These complications have delayed his discharge from the hospital, and left him feeling physically exhausted and emotionally discouraged.

We are asking our prayer warriors and friends to please keep lifting him up. He truly needs strength, healing, and encouragement right now. We’re so grateful for every prayer, message, and bit of support our family has received from our community.

If you would like to send a card or an encouraging word to Zach, here is the address where they can be sent.
