Being a COTA Volunteer is a powerful way to rally your community to support a transplant family. Working together, your team will raise funds in honor of your COTA patient to assist with a lifetime of transplant-related expenses. COTA will provide guidance, support and resources to help you succeed, including a volunteer training for your entire team. Regular communication with COTA throughout the fundraising campaign will be critical to the success of your team’s efforts.
Campaign Coordinator
The Campaign Coordinator (CC) serves as the lead contact between COTA and community volunteers. They are responsible for overseeing all campaign activities and supervising committee chairpersons. The Campaign Coordinator recruits the lead campaign volunteers.
- Recruit other coordinators to brainstorm and execute fundraising activities. Communicate regularly with all volunteers and COTA staff.
- Have excellent knowledge of the community and family’s network of support.
- Have access to a computer with the ability to review and use COTA online volunteer resources.
Outreach Coordinator
The Outreach Coordinator (OC) looks for creative ways to raise awareness of the COTA family’s transplant journey and the need for fundraising for transplant-related expenses. They serve as the primary contact person with area media and coordinate media contacts, press releases and publicity for COTA community campaign activities.

Website Coordinator
COTA provides every fundraising campaign a website. The Website Coordinator (WC) works closely with the family, Campaign Coordinator and Outreach Coordinator to customize the site with patient information and photos, campaign activity and event information, and contribution information. COTA provides a no-cost website to every community campaign for the life of the patient.
Note that no other website (including CaringBridge) may be used by the family or the COTA community campaign while actively fundraising with COTA. If another site exists, COTA staff will help families and volunteers transition to the COTA campaign website. After fundraising concludes, other websites may be reactivated with links back to COTA.org or the COTA campaign website.
- Work closely with volunteers and the family to maintain the COTA-provided campaign website by posting frequent updates to the blog, events and photo galleries.
- Encourage the COTA family and/or patient to post blog updates to the campaign website.
