Your FOURTH Impact!

This is Isabel’s birthday week! It is also Donate Life Month and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than announcing a new group of kiddos we get to help. Thanks to all of YOU we are honored to have now helped 23 families with many more to come!

Richard Kohen Hughes, 6 weeks-old: We have no pictures of this little man as he was just born. Sweet Kohen was diagnosed with single-ventricle with epstein valve formation at birth and has been at Vanderbilt since mom delivered in mid-February. He is currently listed for heart transplant.

Bowen Dockery, 1 year-old: Bowen lives in Delano, Tennessee with his parents and older brother. When he was just over a week old, he contracted viral meningitis, causing inflammation in the middle of his heart wall. He is currently inpatient 180 miles away from home waiting for his life-saving heart transplant with mom. Dad is back at home with little brother, who visit Bowen and mom as much as they can. https://cota.org/cotaforbowensheart/our-story/.

Jaxson Coleman, 2 years-old: Jaxson was born in Chester, Arkansas to parents Destiny and Charles Coleman. Jaxson was diagnosed with Severe Aortic Stenosis just prior to birth and his doctors recommended a life-saving heart transplant. On September 8, 2023, Jaxson received a new heart at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Post-transplant, Jaxson has been in and out of the hospital frequently and family has struggled to cover transplant-related travel expenses. https://cota.org/cotaforjaxsonsheart/.

August Acedo, 6 years old: August “Auggie” is a young boy from Tucson, Arizona. We have donated to their family before but are renewing our gift due to continued medical expenses.  He received his heart transplant in 2022. https://cota.org/cotaforteamaugusta/.

Lamar Brooks, 16 years old: Lamar is a 16-year-old boy that resides in Illinois with his parents. Lamar received a life-saving heart transplant in January of 2024. He has been doing well since his transplant, however, during the transplant period his father had to be on unpaid leave for several weeks. Since that time his family has incurred many expenses.  You can see more of Lamar’s story here https://cota.org/cotaforlamar/.

Angela Frank, 18 years old: Angela lives with her mom and seven pets in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Angela was adopted from Guatemala. Soon after she came home with her mom she was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy and Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome (the same condition as our heart hero!) at just 7 months old. She is now listed  for heart transplant. Her and her family travel 3 hours from home for hospital visits and doctor’s appointments. Angela loves to do her nails, play video games, and listen to Taylor Swift.  https://cota.org/cotaforangelasjourney/our-story/.
