New Year-Update

Happy New Year!

The past year has definitely been a journey.  Although Alex has had a rough last couple of months dealing with viral infections and truly just feeling wiped out, he has continued to show significant improvement.

He is still attending school half days at this point (when well enough), is still needing an insulin pump for continuous delivery of insulin and to support his islet cell function (but at a very low basal rate setting), is still using a feeding tube (but only periodically due to illness), and is still experiencing a mild to moderate amount of pain and nausea.  He does continue to have bowel and motility issues; however, will be having more testing done with Cincinnati in March.

We are all so very proud of Alex because despite everything, he has really pushed through all of this like a champ-throughout the entire process, and with a heart of gold.

Alex will continue his rehabilitation process with his phenomenal Physical Therapist Melissa Shay at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, and we are so very excited to share his progress at his one-year re-check with the Cincinnati team in March.

Thank you again for your ongoing support.  Our family truly appreciates each and every one of you!
