In Loving Memory
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness, we share the passing of Tommy Morris Kamar on March 6, 2025, at the age of 63. Tommy left this world far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories. She was a beloved wife, a devoted mother, a cherished sister, a precious daughter, and an extraordinary friend to all who knew her.

Tommy was the youngest of six children, born to Thomas J. Morris and Stella Perrin Morris on January 12, 1962 in Vivian, Louisiana. Her mother lovingly named her after her father, as the last child of their family. Tommy’s early life was spent in NW Louisiana and SE Texas, but her formative years truly began when her father moved the family to SE Louisiana (St. Helena and Tangipahoa Parishes), where her sharp mind and lively spirit flourished.

Eventually her father retired to Atlanta, Texas before her senior year of high school, where her academic achievements reflected her brilliance, graduating salutatorian from Atlanta High School. She chose to attend Stephen F. Austin State University, where she met her soulmate, Richard (Rick) Kamar, graduating magna cum laude in 1984. Their love story was one for the ages. They married in November 1987 and embraced ten wonderful years of laughter, love, and preparation for the family they dreamed of. In 1997, that dream came true with the arrival of their twin daughters, Kristina and Amanda, who became the light of their lives. Tommy poured her heart and soul into being a mother. Anyone who knew Tommy knows of the deep love, immeasurable time, unwavering support, and fierce protection she provided her daughters right up to her final days.

Tommy was a woman of many talents, whose devotion extended beyond her family. Her creativity knew no bounds, and her impeccable sense of style was matched only by her remarkable green thumb, which she inherited from her parents. She had an extraordinary ability to transform her home into a sanctuary of beauty and warmth, where friends and family were always welcomed with her sharp wit and infectious laughter. Her love for animals was a lifelong passion, starting with her childhood dog Snoopy and pet pigeon Percy, to our latest pup Handsome Hank, whose playful nature filled her days with joy. Every pet she nurtured held a cherished place in her heart.

In the family, she was well known for her marathon shopping sessions to find the perfect gift or item for the loved one in mind. Whether browsing store aisles or scrolling online, she put her whole heart into making every purchase thoughtful and meaningful to the recipient. Her generosity knew no bounds, encompassing everyone she cared for, from her immediate family to her extended family, especially to those newest little family members.

Tommy’s impact on her family cannot be captured in mere words. Within her immediate family, she is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. Morris and Stella Perrin Morris. She is survived by her husband, Richard I. Kamar of 37 years; her daughters, Kristina and Amanda Kamar; her siblings, Bevo Morris (Rosemary), Mary Havey (Mort), Shirley LeBlanc (Cornel), Jim Morris (Julie), and Vickey Burnett (Jimmy); and countless nieces and nephews whose lives were all enriched by her presence.

Tommy is loved by Richard’s family as their own, and the love was mutual. On his fathers’ side, she is preceded in death by her father in-law, Issa I. Kamar and survived by her mother in-law Rose Kamar; brother-in-law, Ramsey Kamar (Bahar), and sister-in-law, Nadia Kamar. On his mothers’ side, she is preceded in death by her mother in-law, Carol Kamar and survived by her sister in-law, Janie Pollom, and sister in-law, Karen Kamar.

One of the most important things to know about Tommy is her everlasting relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. That faith and trust she had in him carried her through many difficult times in her life. Though our hearts ache with her absence, we find comfort in knowing that Tommy is at peace in Heaven, embraced by Jesus and watching over her loved ones. Her warmth, laughter, and love will forever be etched in our hearts, and her spirit will continue to guide us in the days to come.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Phil. 4:13
