After the Transplant

It has been a month, today, since Anthony had his transplant. We are so grateful for his amazing healthcare team and all they have done. We are very grateful for the love and prayers of everyone and count everything a blessing. Anthony’s kidney is doing well, and he says he feels better every day. Like always, he looks great, and no one would ever know he’s gone through FSGS and a transplant by looking at him. While this is a huge blessing, I think it’s challenging for others to comprehend all he’s been through and the thought is that if he doesn’t look sick, he’s healthy. And that since he’s gotten the transplant, he can now go back to living a “normal life”. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. We have to travel back and forth from Greensboro to Charlotte 2-3 times a week, he’s still constantly having lab work and he’ll be in numerous med for the rest of his life. Currently, is monitored closely to figure out what combination if meds work for him and which do not.

I say this to say that Anthony is doing amazing and thriving in recovery, but transplant is not the end of his journey. He is strong and doesn’t look like what he’s been through.
