After the Letdown — Choosing Hope Again

After a moment like that… everything feels quiet.

The kind of quiet that comes after so much build-up.
After hope rises so high… and then suddenly falls.

April 19th was supposed to be the day everything changed for Benjamin.

And in a way, it did.

Just not in the way we had prayed for.

Since that day, I’ve been sitting with a lot of emotions.

Disappointment.
Heartbreak.
Confusion.

But also… gratitude.

Gratitude for a surgical team that chose to protect him.
Gratitude that they didn’t move forward with something that could have caused more harm.

Even when it hurts, I know they made the right decision.

Still, it’s hard.

It’s hard to go from “this is it” to “we’re still waiting.”

It’s hard to explain to people that we were so close… and now we’re back in the same place.

Waiting.

But this journey has taught me something I keep coming back to:

Just because it didn’t happen that day… doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

Benjamin’s miracle didn’t disappear.

It just wasn’t that kidney.

So now, we take a deep breath… and we keep going.

We keep showing up to appointments.
We keep monitoring his labs.
We keep doing everything we can to keep him strong.

And we keep hoping.

Hoping for the right match.
Hoping for the right timing.
Hoping for the kidney that is meant for him.

If you’ve been following Benjamin’s story, thank you.

For your prayers.
For your messages.
For every share.

We feel it more than you know.

And if you can continue to share his story, please do.

Because his miracle is still out there.

And we are not giving up 💛
