Health Update

Boothe is about seven weeks away from his surgery date.I have to say, he has been blessed this summer with a stretch of fairly good health. He has spent many afternoons floating around the lazy river at the waterpark, enjoyed all his favorite summer treats, had a couple fun sleepovers with his best friend, stuck his toes in the sand at the beach, attended several community events, and enjoyed his first month of fourth grade. He experienced a mild flare up in July and also one in August. Luckily he was able to manage them both at home with some pain management, warm baths, his trusty heating pad, rest, and snuggles with his dog. Within about a week, they had subsided.

When Boothe looks forward to summer vacation or trips to the beach, there is always the potential that a pancreatic attack could ruin them for him. A few months with only minor issues has shown us all the future that Boothe could have post surgery. He will be given a quality of life where he can look forward to the big events without the fear that he will be in too much pain to go or enjoy them. The recovery will take a few months, but we are hoping that next summer will be entirely pain free and even more amazing than this one.

Boothe is excited for all things Fall! He loves to go to the pumpkin patch and the apple orchard. His birthday is coming up in October, so he can’t wait for a party with all his buddies. He is already thinking about his costume for Halloween, even though it changes almost every day. For the next seven weeks, we are going to soak up all the fun Fall events and good health days. Thank you to everyone who has shown Boothe love and support. We truly have the most loving friends and wonderful community!
