We are still waiting for the “perfect donor” heart at UCLA. Alessandro has been doing great with feeds and he was taken off of the Lipids and TPN bags. He was constantly throwing up for weeks but it was his body restarting to accept food. We kept offering liquids and foods with that came multiple shirt changes. The team of doctors have been amazed on well Alessandro has been able to hold down food even with the cannulas press on his stomach.
They have stopped pushing for a nasal feeding tube to help him eat. Woooo!
Our family celebrated Thanksgiving a week before the holiday. We all came together as a family and enjoyed a well put together traditional thanksgiving dinner meal.
We have a lot to be thankful for, Alessandro’s care during this difficult time, the staff at all of the hospitals we have stayed at, the Ronald McDonald house, the other families that we have meet just to name a few.
Alessandro is currently starting to take small steps assisted on walking. Physical therapy helps him out three times a week. Soon he will be roaming the hallways by foot.
