After 20 long days, Evelyn finally had her breathing tube removed today.
Tears of joy flowed as we watched her reach this huge milestone. She still has a long road ahead of her, but this is one of the biggest steps forward we’ve seen in weeks.
Right now, she’s dealing with quite a bit of anxiety and is constantly asking for water and juice. Managing and redirecting those requests has been challenging, and she’s also trying to pull at her nasal cannula and feeding tube. Even so, hearing her communicate her needs and wants again has been incredible. The very first thing she asked for was water.
Before heading back to the hospital today, I stopped by our garage sale fundraiser and was surprised by a visit from a reporter with Kare 11. They came to check things out and asked to do an interview and we’re so grateful for the opportunity to share Evelyn’s story. There will be a small segment airing tonight, with the full interview expected tomorrow. I’ll share more details as I learn them.
Thank you to everyone who has continued to pray for, encourage, and rally around our family. Every message, donation to COTA for Evelyn’s Heart, meal, and prayer has carried us through some of the hardest days of our lives.
The garage sale fundraiser continues through Saturday at:
7040 Eagle Trail, Centerville, MN
Fri. 8am to 5pm, Sat. 8am to 12pm
We’d love to see you if you’re able to stop by.
Today was a good day. ![]()
