July 18th is the big day! We can’t believe the day is finally going to come. Last week we got the official approval from insurance and so now it’s really happening! It still seems so unreal and our emotions are up and down – from anxiousness to excitement to being totally freaked out.
We have so many questions about what’s to come and there are so many still left that we aren’t sure of but what we do know is that I (Katie) will be giving Zeke my kidney and I will be in the hospital for 4 days and then released. Zeke will be in the ICU for about a week and then on the general nephrology floor for another 2 weeks (if there are no complications). We will also have to stay in the Cincinnati area for about 6-8 weeks because they will need to check on Zeke several times a week and they need him to stay in the area. We are currently looking for temporary housing for our time up there.
For the time we are there, David and I will be traveling back and forth so one can be with Zeke and the other with the girls. Both Addilyn and Eleanor will be able to come up and visit for a while but for the most part they will stay in Peoria with family. Plus school will start in the fall.
It honestly hasn’t hit me yet that the transplant is actually going to happen; usually before any of Ezekiel’s surgeries/procedures my eye would start twitching, but is hasn’t yet. HAHA
We have been so busy at home with work, end of school, T-ball, and trying to plan one last fun family outing before the big day.
Thank you all so much for praying for us and asking how our family is doing. We will for sure be keeping you up to date with picture and stuff on our TeamZekeB Facebook page.
