ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!!

Today marks one year. ONE year since transplant!  Happy Kidney Anniversary little buddy!   It’s been a crazy ride and full of ups and downs.  Life is a roller coaster and we are joyfully riding it every day!  We could not be more proud of Zeke and all his accomplishments.  He would be entering preschool this year if it wasn’t for COVID, but our start of our homeschool journey awaits.

Zeke is taking the world by storm.  Every doctor or nurse that meets him instantly becomes their favorite patient. His sweet silly personality has blossomed and makes you laugh all the time.  He absolutely loves his big sisters and cousins but is also content building Lego’s by himself.  He can almost climb stairs by himself and he runs to the beat of his own drum.  He wants to do everything by himself for himself.  If only we could get him potty trained.  That he doesn’t seem to mind us helping but has his own opinion  on when and who can actually change his diaper.

To think back three and half years ago, we never would have guessed we would have made it this far.  His sisters have been such troopers through it all.  I, Katie, am doing good as well, I’ve happily joined the one bean club and would have done it all over again in a heartbeat.

Since coming home from transplant we have been traveling to Cincinnati once a month for lab work and doctor visits.  Everything has been going smoothly with his transplant and have been able to wean down and off some medications.  He has recovered nicely from his emergency bowel surgery in September 2019 and from his planned surgery on May 2020. Of course Zeke does it in his own style and has to visit the ICU at least once, make it hard on the doctors, and stresses us out to the max.  He sure is a fighter though and doesn’t let anything stand in his way.

Please pray for our upcoming appointments in August.  Zeke has to have an MRI of his spine and meet with our orthopaedic doctor about his scoliosis.  Please pray that his curve has improved so he will not need growing rods placed.

Thank you for joining us in our journey and praying for us!
