Great news! Thank you everyone for praying, the good hand of God was on our little warrior last night. She got some solid ours of sleep! According to the nurse she slept from around 10pm to 7am, and you could tell this morning. Although still shyer than usual, Ela gave us a couple laughs and some interaction. Things were looking good.
Later in the morning though, Ela started to regress back to “zombie Ela.” All stares and grunts. “Can you give me a high five?” ***stare*** “What’s your favorite princess?” ***grunt***
Around noon, we could tell she was tired enough to give her a nap. So she got almost two hours in. It was around 4pm though that the switch happened. We’ve found our Ela! The rest of the afternoon and evening was filled with chatter and singing and giggling. A little sass here and a little spunk there…much better than the zombie grunts! Leslee and I are so happy for the progress.
Tonight, my mom and I were discussing a passage that is so appropriate to share with today’s blessings.
“Even though I walk through the valley of shadow of death, I will fear no evil, your rod and your staff, they comfort me…Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever” (Ps. 23:4, 6).
We serve a God of comfort, a God of goodness, a God of mercy. Blessings we do not deserve but that He gives us anyway. I’m thrilled to leave you with a video of Ela singing. May she always remember the words of the song she knows so well: “for the Lord is good and faithful, He will keep us day and night. We can always run to Jesus. Jesus strong and kind.”
