Post Transplant Update 63

The Preacher of Israel said, “there is a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance” (Eccl. 8:6). We have experienced much sorrow since the day of Ela’s heart transplant…this weekend though, will be a weekend to celebrate.

Although the following year will be a year of adjustment and watchfulness, we cannot express the joy it has been to have Ela out of the hospital. 25 hours and counting!

I shared with Leslee last night after arriving at the Gift of Life House how fun of a ride Ela and I had together: “Look! a tunnel!…and it has lights!” “Wow…so many cars! And a bridge!” Perspective, perspective…to tell you the truth, I was a little grumpy at moments over the bad traffic, yet Ela was having the time of her life getting re-acquainted with a regular car ride!

First time in 135 days getting a car ride, and sleeping in a queen size bed, and taking a REAL bath!

Leslee and Ela will be at the Gift of Life House for another month or two since Ela has to go back to CHOP regularly for important check ups, yet we are one stop closer to returning home. We’re praying that we can have her home by Christmas.

Thanks again for everything. Below is a clip of Ela’s walk out of the hospital, hoping it helps you rejoice with us!
