Wow. Two years ago around this time, we were officially told by multiple medical teams that Ela would need a transplant sooner than later. One year ago around this time, we didn’t know if we would get another Christmas with her. And yet here we are, by God’s grace and a precious donor family, ready to go home to celebrate this Christmas…Ela’s first Christmas with a new heart. Has this long-awaited day really finally come?
5 days! 5 days! 5 DAYS! Lord willing, if all goes well with this week’s appointments, we will be home in 5 days! Ela has not set foot in her house or slept in her bed for 6 long months. What a homecoming for her! We are all excited, but there’s also some nerves. Our entire family will be adjusting to a new normal with its many challenges, yet we are so grateful to get to have this new normal. The road is still long for Ela. But we will enjoy this time and rejoice in what God has done! I can tell you I sure do look forward to being all together as a family, country air and quieter, less busy streets. Haha.
Also wanted to again just say…Thank you all, for your continued prayers and encouragement. May God richly bless you.
Prayer requests:
-Please pray for all the many hurting and grieving families, including our donor family throughout this holiday season. These last 6 months have opened my eyes to so much and so many people going through extremely difficult and sad situations.
-Please pray for the integration back into home life (especially for Ela and myself). Consecutive months in a hospital brings with it some challenges that we will need to work through.
-Please pray that according to God’s will, Ela can stay as healthy as possible and we won’t have to go in-patient again for a very long time.
BE WATCHING FOR:
-A very special recording we will post soon (maybe in the next update)! And grab some tissues because you may need them.
Psalm 86:10- “For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God.”
