Transplant Post-Op: Day 2

Ela had no major issues overnight. Praise the Lord! Her chest is still open, she is still completely sedated, ventilator breathing for her, and on lots of medicines for all kinds of things. There are a few issues they are keeping a close eye on (such as her kidney function and some other things), but the one goal today was to make sure they could get enough fluid off for the surgeon to go in and close her chest. As long as nothing changes overnight, the plan is for her chest to be closed tomorrow (Sunday) morning. Getting that incision closed ASAP is important to minimize infection risk. However, it is also a big deal when they close it.

Pray for the surgeon and team tomorrow as they do this procedure. Pray that her heart and body respond well and that she will not re-bleed or have any complications from the closure.

We are thankful that her fever broke around 10 this morning. We are thankful that her heart function is looking good and she is stable. We are thankful for your prayers, love, and support. Thank you.

This heart gift is not taken for granted. Please remember the family and friends of the donor child in your prayers. We will forever be grateful that the family chose organ donation.
