1 year Post-Op Cath Tomorrow (Tuesday)

Gabriela’s Warriors! It is hard to believe that September 6 will mark the one year anniversary of Ela’s heart transplant. We are currently in Philly for her 1 year post transplant heart catheterization which will be first thing very early Tuesday morning. Please be in prayer for a safe procedure/recovery for Ela. These procedures have become pretty routine for Ela, but there are always risks. There will most likely be an intervention done this time as her left pulmonary artery has always been narrow. It sounds like the doctor will balloon it to open it up some to help increase the flow through it. He will also be checking different pressures within the heart and getting biopsies to check for rejection. If all goes well we hope to be home mid-week. We will post results once we know them.

This week has already been an emotional one. We have been thinking a lot of the donor and the family…Reflecting on Ela’s journey as well…Please be in prayer for Ela’s donor family. I am sure that the grief is especially hard this week and in the days ahead. They must miss their little one terribly. They should be getting our letter we wrote to them any day now. Please pray that they can find some comfort in it… knowing that their child and their choice to donate life has forever changed our family’s life and we are eternally grateful.
