Everyone wants to know…How is Ivy doing now??

It’s been almost 2 months since her heart transplant, and Ivy is overjoyed to finally be at home! She especially loves meeting up with friends and family outdoors and cuddling with her cat in her own bed. Ivy’s biggest challenge right now is taking all of her required medications which can total 30 or more pills at a time, some the size of a small car! Her daily rehabilitation includes walking around the neighborhood and she has started working on her online classes for school. While she wakes up feeling pretty good everyday, her heart is still healing and she is challenged because her stamina and endurance aren’t yet what it needs to be to keep up with all of her typical daily activities. She continues to follow up with almost weekly doctor and lab visits at the UCLA Pediatric Heart Clinic and her heart catheterizations/biopsies continue to show no signs of rejection. Friends and family are constantly asking how Ivy feels but it is a complicated question for her to answer… Although she is amazed at how much better she is feeling compared to how she felt prior to her transplant, she is not quite where she had hoped to be at this stage, but is looking forward to how strong she will become! We continue to be patient and  are confident with her doctors’ plans to get her there soon!                                                                            Thank you all for your love and support from the bottom of our hearts! ~ Denise & Scott
