Recently, Jacob celebrated his 18th birthday! Watching him reach this milestone is hard to put into words. To be completely honest, there were times when we weren’t sure we would make it here. There were seasons where looking forward felt impossible as getting through the next hour was hard enough, but look at him now. Today, he stands before us as a living miracle, proof of God’s love and a testament to the selflessness of a donor who gave him the chance to have a future.

We live with a deep, daily appreciation for the everyday moments, the comfort of home and the joy of being together under one roof as a family. We get to watch the pure happiness on his face when he picks up a golf club or works out with his punching bag.

This milestone doesn’t just belong to us, it belongs to the amazing individuals and amazing community Jake has. Those who stepped up for Jacob without question. Family and friends who filled the gaps without being asked. For the dedicated medical teams, therapists, and teachers who poured their expertise and hearts into making sure Jacob didn’t just survive this journey, but is truly living life. For those that rallied behind him, kept him in your constant thoughts and prayers, and loved Jacob so fiercely that he never gave up. We see you, we love you, and we are more grateful for you than you will ever know.

We could not be prouder of the resilient, incredible young man Jake has become. His future is a beautiful gift, and it is incredibly bright. Happy 18th Birthday, Jacob!
