Finding Comfort in Unexpected Places

This week, we went to our Peoria cardiologist to have the fractured lead turned off. As always, we were a little on edge, but it turned out to be a rather comforting visit.

This office is filled with people who have been on this difficult journey with us from the start. They’ve become so much more than a part of our medical team, they’re like part of our family.

We got to spend time with one specific nurse who we absolutely adore. She goes above and beyond to support Jake’s medical needs but also sees him as the 17 year old boy he is. Seeing her again was the highlight of the day. It was just another reminder that while this journey has been tough and filled with anxiety, it has also introduced us to some of the most amazing and talented people who want only the very best for Jacob. We are so genuinely grateful for every person on our medical team and feel so lucky to have them in our corner.

Next week, we will meet again with out St Louis transplant team for a our monthly visit. Please keep Jake in your prayers as we are all getting anxious.
