💙 Today is World Organ Donation Day. 💚

This year, those words carry a whole different meaning for our family.Jaime is currently waiting for a liver transplant. Somewhere, someday, the gift of organ donation could be what gives our sweet boy his second chance. It will give him the chance to grow up, make memories, get into mischief with his big brother, and live the life we all dream of for him.

We also know that organ donation doesn’t only happen after someone passes. Living donation can save lives too. A healthy person can donate a portion of their liver, and because the liver has the incredible ability to regenerate, both the donor’s remaining liver and the transplanted portion can grow after surgery. For some patients, including children waiting for a liver, a living donor can provide another path to transplant and another chance at life.We know that for Jaime to receive the gift of donation, whether from a living donor or a deceased donor, it comes with an incredible act of love, generosity, and selflessness.

Today, we honor organ donors, donor families, transplant recipients, and everyone still waiting.For us, organ donation means hope.It means more tomorrows. And for Jaime, it could mean his Second Chance.
