WHO I AM: Becca

Welcome to Julia’s COTA page!

First of all, I want to thank you for coming to this page to learn more about Julia, her story and how you can help.

Throughout Julia’s whole life, Cystic Fibrosis has never been able to keep her down. However, over the last couple of years, the disease has gotten more aggressive and taken a toll on Julia and taken away a lot from her and kept her from doing the things that she loves.

Julia and I were best friends before we could even utter words to each other. I have grown up with her doing her treatments during our sleepovers, going to her CF walks, going down to the nurse’s office with her at school before lunch so she could take her enzymes. But when I look at my relationship with Julia, I don’t see her disease or her daily treatments. I see an extraordinary human being that has beat all the odds and has lived a full life so far despite the things life has thrown at her.

Even though Julia has had many setbacks throughout her life, she has managed to maintain a unique creativity that she uses to create art, music, movies, documentaries, games and everything in between. She was accepted into the most prestigious university in the country, has travelled around the world, and does everything with a smile on her face and making everyone laugh with her sharp wit and unmatched humor.

I could talk about Julia all day and how much she has impacted my life. About both her strength and ability to beat the odds despite her illness but also the fact that the way she lives her life is impressive even for someone who doesn’t have the daily struggles that she does. All I can say is that Julia is very special. She is strong and brave and there is no doubt in my mind that she can beat this.

With your help, she can get even closer to taking back everything this disease has taken from her and get back to doing what she does best, making people laugh, exploring, creating, and brightening up the lives of everyone she meets. I’m hoping that through my introduction of Julia and following Julia’s journey to a transplant, you will all be able to see that Julia is a force to be reckoned with.
