Transplant Journey (month of April)

We are hoping that after this post, we are able to blog as things are occuring, and plan to post a few times a month.

April

We knew that April had a lot in store for us, and there were a few surprises along the way. First, she had an ultrasound to check on things with her new liver, and we also had a kidney ultrasound added, due to some concerning bloodwork… more on that at the end of this post.

In the best of news- we were thrilled to celebrate Easter, the resurrection of Jesus, for we were going through the hardest of times of Liviah’s journey during the celebration of His birth. We didn’t venture out to church just yet, due to the crowds, Liviah’s PICC line, and the medications that she was still taking. But still, Liviah and her siblings had fun searching for their Easter baskets and eggs, and we enjoyed brunch with a few family members. Her great grandma was one of them, and she hadn’t seen Liviah since before she got sick and needed a liver transplant, so that was very special. We enjoyed our Easter day very much, and we were thankful to be together!

Within the last half of April, Liviah got her PICC line removed, got to attend her brother’s chior concert, and started to phase back in to her preschool class.

She also received a very special Award, called the Shining Light Award, which is given to students grade PreK-12. We are always so proud of our children, and this Award embodied everything that she is, before her transplant, during, and after!!

As April winds down, we are happy to be planning on Liviah finishing out this preschool year, in-person. We have also stopped taking quite a few medications! One of her medications got added back on this week, after we took her to get her blood drawn early, due to us noticing some concerning things. We have added a few new appointments to our schedule as well… Due to the bloodwork mentioned at the top of this post, we have been referred to Nephrology to keep an eye on her kidney function.
