Lucas’ transplant surgery went very smoothly.

It’s absolutely mindblowing that it’s even a possibility. Our skilled surgeon was very pleased with the new heart, and said the surgery went as well as it could. 

Lucas is in the ICU, and it’s been buzzing with activity. We were only allowed to be together for a short period, and then back to only 1 parent at a time. Difficult. 

This will be a difficult and critical few days. Lucas’ lung pressures have been high, and the new heart is having a tough time adapting. Lucas also has a fever of 102, which is concerning. 

We’re feeling fried, exhausted, scared, anxious, excited, nervous, grateful….probably 100 other feelings.
