March 2017 timeline

March 2 Luke’s eyes turn yellow; first blood work done

March 3 Ultrasound; second blood work done

March 4-March 5 Luke progressively gets more lethargic and doesn’t want to be separated from family.

March 6 Luke is admitted to Children’s Hospital and Medical Center

March 7 Luke is on a routine blood work schedule

March 8 CMV (virus) came back positive and believed to be the cause of the elevated liver enzymes

March 9 Blood work reveals that liver enzymes have decreased

March 10 Blood work reveals liver enzyme levels reflect liver failure status

March 11 Luke is transferred to University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC or Med Center for short)

March 12 Luke had port inserted for easy blood draw; Begins necessary tests and procedures to be approved for transplant list. Luke is placed #1 on the transplant list

March 13 Luke’s condition is quickly deteriorating; We get the call a liver is available.

March 14 Luke Receives a liver transplant.

March 15-17 Luke recovers on the PICU floor

March 17-22 Luke recovers on the general pediatric floor

March 22 Luke is discharged from UNMC!
