The past two days have been incredibly difficult for sweet Magnolia.
Over the last 48 hours, she has undergone CT scans, two ultrasounds, and three X-rays as her medical team works tirelessly to understand everything happening in her little body.
On Friday evening, around 7:00 p.m., Magnolia’s family noticed that she began to decline and develop more symptoms. Around the same time, her lab results confirmed what they had been expecting but still dreaded—she has officially reached the lowest point of this round of chemotherapy. This is the stage when her body is at its most vulnerable, and every hour feels like a waiting game.
So far, Magnolia has required two blood product transfusions, several medications, and her port had to be deaccessed and reaccessed. She has also needed additional IVs placed. Today, she will begin breathing treatments because she has been having difficulty breathing comfortably. She will also restart blood thinners due to clotting in her liver, even though her platelet levels remain low.
At this time, her medical team continues to run additional tests and is waiting on results to determine exactly what type of infection she is battling so they can begin the most effective treatment as quickly as possible.
Through it all, Magnolia’s family continues to choose faith over fear. They know God has faithfully carried her through every step of this journey, and they trust that He is walking beside her through this battle as well.
Please continue to keep this brave little warrior in your prayers. Pray that the doctors receive wisdom, that the infection is identified quickly, that her breathing improves, her body responds well to treatment, and that God continues to strengthen and sustain her. They remain confident that, by God’s grace, Magnolia will overcome this battle as well.
