My got a decent amount of sleep last night and kept the good times rolling. They woke up with a decent amount of energy and they were telling me they could not stop thinking about food. Perfect timing! At rounds, Christie and Dr. Freeman said My could start real food today! The drs said whatever My wants just not too fatty and not too spicy. Then we’ll insulin correct after.
The twins and I ran to get My their requested yuzu coconut smoothie. My enjoyed part of the smoothie while painting with the twins. The three of them pained a bunch of magnets together. Then they opened a little blind box that was a cute little craft. Then My went for a walk. My did 3 laps around the entire floor, no breaks, and would have kept going if PT didn’t tell us save that energy for another walk later. My was cruising so fast that when I was recording walking backwards they almost ran me over! They took a little nap after the walk. Then got up and a little while later finished the smoothie!
Feeds were cut down dramatically today in hopes that My could eat. Also, we are down to one tower! So much easier to get My up and about. Pain meds are being cut back slowly too, and My is doing great. Their pain is only at a 6-7, which is what it was every regular (not during a flare up) day prior to surgery.
On my way back from taking Eis to swim lessons, I got a text “My is requesting their fave ramen place.” So I picked it up on the way home. They didn’t go buck wild, but they were loving it. We actually made them stop so they could make sure it was feeling ok in their tummy. They enjoyed it so much. We even got to eat it together as a family in the room. That was so nice.
I slept crumby last night because the CGM wasn’t working. I was stressed knowing they didn’t have anything constantly measuring their glucose, and how much less often we are check on in this room. I had mentioned it wasn’t working in my last post yesterday, and a few hours of that a sweet friend dm’d me. She gave me some tricks to possibly kick it into action, and 5 minutes after trying it… it started working! So needless to say I am ready for some good rest tonight too!
So thankful for such a good day!! We are hanging in the room all 5 of us together just chatting and joking. In a bit we will get My to walk a few laps again, and then chill for the night.
