The liver accepted the islet cells amazingly!! The pressure of the artery barely changed at all! Christie also said she is pretty sure they were able to save the spleen! We really thought this wouldn’t happen. When they remove the spleen they have to move quick to preserve the artery between it and the pancreas to save the islets. Due to Mylin’s level of atrophy we were told this would be really difficult since it is already only about a 30% success rate of saving the spleen. Christie said My only had one abdominal port instead of two, which is why she thinks the spleen was saved! This made us so happy! We’ll find out for sure when we talk to Dr. Nathan.

They are preparing to close up the incision, and the doctor will likely be over in an hour to debrief us on how the surgery went in his own words. My will then be taken to the ICU. It will take about an hour for the team to get My settled in and do initial labs and hookups.
