The twins and I got back to SD after midnight last night.
As I saw the 94 Freeway and recognized we were likely flying over our neighborhood, it hit me. Hard. I was home, but without My. Not only that My is laying in a hospital sicker than they have been in days. It felt so wrong. Like a mother should be with her child. Especially with Mylin having such a hard day yesterday, to where it extended the hospital stay. Everything came rushing to me. I am not a public crier, and full honesty it’s hard for me to cry even when I know I need to. I cried for a good 20-30 minutes. Ugly cried, nose running, trying to muffle the audible sobs.
I have to be here though. The twins have lives that I don’t want them to miss out on and I have a business (and need a paycheck).
This surgery was absolutely 100% the right choice, but it’s still hard. I want to be fully transparent about both of those things.
One thing about being back is feeling how absolutely blessed we are by the gifts that are our friendships here. Our friends have taken care of our dogs, left us food in fridge, flowers on the table, picked us up in the airport, checked in and really just showed up in a way that is unbelievable. We are so beyond thankful. ❤️
