Ready for More

Mylin continues to do amazingly! They are full of laughter and jokes. They have been enjoying staying up late and sleeping in on the weeknds. They are really enjoying their junior year of school, and are getting back to attending concerts and hanging out with friends. They said to me the other day “Mama, ya know, school is so much easier when I’m not sick! I have all A’s and it doesn’t even seem that hard.”

They told me last week that they are ready for more. They have no longer been taking the golf cart escort at school. They’ve been lifting their own backpack. They also started physical therapy. They want to start their weekend art class again and would even like to look for a part-time job. They want to save money for a diabetes dog to have once they live on their own.

It’s been so good to see them literally come back to life before our eyes! Those of you who have been along for the ride know that the recovery was a windy road, but 3 and a 1/2 months later and we are seeing a whole new kid!

My has taken over packing their own lunches, and is doing great using measuring cups, measuring spoons, and food scales to ensure they know each carb that needs to be accounted for. They’ve been on top of watching their blood sugar, highs, and lows. I may have mentioned before that they completely sleep through their Blood sugar, alarm on their phone, and many times even sleep through us, pricking their finger in the middle of the night. We did get them a new standalone blood sugar alarm called the Sugar Pixel. We also got the vibrating attachment that goes under the pillow. The vibrating attachment isn’t necessarily waking them up, but the alarm clock sounds like something straight out of an alien horror film. It seems to be doing the trick.

For those of you in the diabetes world, we have both the sugar pixel, and the sugar dash. The sugar Dash is perfect for us and our room. We can completely turn the screen off, but I have The alarm portion still alive. It has a night mode and a day mode. The alarm is enough to wake us up. It’s the size of a Kindle. The sugar dash is small like a retro digital alarm clock. The alarm on it is much more aggressive, so it works well for those that sleep through alarms.

I know I haven’t been updating as often. Sometimes when things are going well for a while I’m like what can I share? However, I wanna keep all of you updated and I also want to let anyone who is looking into the surgery now that for as scary as it is, there is another side as the kiddo really starts to heal!

Look at this cutie!!💛💛💛
