Smiles for Miles

We’ve been seeing so many more smiles and so much more pure joy recently. I can’t tell you how awesome that’s been! I had to share these pics here.

We had our pain clinic appointment this week. They were amazed at how well My is doing! We are going to start trying to ween off of the nerve pain medication. The doctors also said My doesn’t need to do any follow-ups with the pain psychologist here in SD, since they are doing so well.

My had their 2nd PT appointment, and went twice as long this time. They did awesome, but we forgot to put the pump in activity mode. The last few minutes My hit a dangerous low in the 40’s. They started alarming in the 50’s, but had dropped to 40’s by the time we got the first round of carbs in. Some skittles and a juice box later we got things back in order. I don’t know if it was the exercise endorphins mixed with the low blood sugar, but this low had them super out of it goofy silly, like drunk silly. Once everything evened out they were exhausted and slept for several hours. We continued to watch their blood sugar as they slept. It was all good, and they woke up feel fine, just a little out of it.

They continue to do great though, and are even venturing out in their car more than they ever have. Finally getting to be a teen.
